La Terre de chez nous | Soil under the magnifying glass

The largest study of its kind in almost 30 years

IRDA is currently conducting a soil health study commissioned by MAPAQ (Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec) that involves 426 agricultural sites across Québec—the largest survey of its kind in almost 30 years!

The project, which began last September, will take five years to complete. The last such undertaking dates back to 1990. Working with nearly 400 growers across the province, soil scientists will be taking a look at the quality of the 71 most commonly cultivated soils.
