Québec’s entomology association (Société d’entomologie du Québec) held its annual meeting at Hôtel Sandman in Longueuil on November 23, 2017. IRDA was well represented with five presentations on the work of research teams led by Gérald Chouinard, Daniel Cormier, Josée Boisclair, and Annabelle Firlej.
In addition to the talks given by Mélanie Normandeau-Bonneau, Sarah Jollois, Francine Pelletier, Franz Vanoosthuyse, and Gérald Chouinard, six scientific posters were presented that featured the work of Alessandro Dieni, Annabelle Firlej, Audrey Charbonneau, Simon Chaussé, and Thierry Boislard. The event was a resounding success for IRDA.
Of special note: Mélanie Normandeau-Bonneau, a master's student under the co-direction of Gérald Chouinard, won the "180 seconds of entomology" competition for the video of her research project on the pollination of apple trees under exclusion nets with the help of bumble bees!
