Élise holds a B.Sc. and a master’s degree in biology, as well as a Ph.D. in environmental sciences from the Université of Québec in Montréal. She first worked on the toxicity of glyphosate-based herbicides on aquatic microorganisms. Through her Ph.D. she worked on the phytotoxicity of these same herbicides in soybean and transgenic corn, as well as on different weed management strategies in conventional corn and soybean field crops. During her doctoral studies, she had the opportunity to carry out a long research stay in Brazil, at the University of Brasília (UnB) and at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) where she has developed research collaborations and expertise in plant physiology and pesticides analyses in food. She then held a position of research associate in plant protection and crop management at McGill University’s Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences as part of the Multidisciplinary Expertise Cluster for the Lake Saint-Pierre Sustainable Coastal Management. She joined IRDA in November 2022 as a weed scientist. She is working on the development of an integrated weed management research program aiming at reducing herbicide use while maintaining the agrosystems productivity.
