IRDA operates a unique 42-hectare experimental farm at Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, where it carries out work on soil health and water protection. A large portion of the farm was redesigned to create micro-watersheds. Using a monitoring system, research teams can detect the presence of fertilizers and pesticides in surface and groundwater. The work carried out at Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon aims not only to develop better growing practices when it comes to utilizing these inputs, but also to improve the management of riparian strips.
