The Agricultural Hygiene Laboratory is tasked with detecting, quantifying, and characterizing antibiotic-resistant genes, pathogenic microorganisms, and microorganisms indicative of fecal contamination, whether it be in a food, farming, or environmental context.
The laboratory holds a Risk Group 2 Human Pathogen and Toxin Licence under section 18 of the Human Pathogens and Toxins Act and a Risk Group 2 Terrestrial Animal Pathogen Permit under section 160 of the Health of Animal Regulations.
