Results for 2018
2015-2018 • Field crops

Developing a nitrogen fertilization program based on green manure supplemented by a manure-based starter fertilizer in organic grain production

In a wheat/grain corn/soya rotation, green manure can be used to obtain profitable organic grain corn yields while limiting phosphorus pollution.

2015-2018

Managing subsurface drainage water to optimize crop productivity, nutrient use, and water availability under current and future climatic conditions

The purpose of the project was to assess the benefits of controlled farm drainage under current and future climatic conditions to meet the water needs of field crops and rural communities while reducing nitrogen and phosphorus flows into watercourses.

2015-2018 • Field cropsLivestock production

A diagnostic tool for phosphorus and nitrogen exports (P+N Edit)

The aim of this project was to consolidate current scientific knowledge with a view to developing a spatially referenced tool to predict diffuse sediment, nitrogen, and phosphorus exports at the farm and watershed scale.

2014-2018 • Fruit production

Developing a cropping system for organic strawberries

In a high density strawberry crop grown in sod covered with plastic mulch, evaluate the toxicity of bioinsecticides for controlling tarnished plant bugs and strawberry blossom beetles and of bioherbicides for controlling weeds in and between crop rows.

2013-2018 • Livestock production

Bioproduct combination study to avoid antibiotics in broiler chicken production

The objective of this study is to create a cheap, effective, ecofriendly alternative to the use of antibiotics on chicken farms by developing a new formula using yeasts, enzymes, and organic acids.
